What a great opening to the school year! Our students and staff already have so much to celebrate. It has been two weeks of smiling students, engaged staff and family involvement. Also, take a moment and read about all the student celebrations at Fair included in this edition of our Pack Post! It is gearing up to be a great year.
As the year begins and ramps up, it is a good time for students and families to find a place to get involved. We have dozens of clubs, sports, and activities to choose from. On September 23rd, many of those will be on display during our annual SKHS Showcase. Come meet your student’s teachers and discover all that SKHS has to offer. There is a place and activity for everyone here…and if you can’t find a club, learn how to start one and we will help you find your place here! I look forward to seeing you on September 23rd!

Financial Aid application is open!!! If you/your student is thinking of going to any post high school education, you should apply for financial aid using either the FAFSA or WASFA. Only apply to one, not both. Most will use the FAFSA. Contact Mrs. Nass if you want clarification about which you should use. For the FAFSA, you will need to create a FSA ID first. |
September is Attendance awareness month! Did you know that missing just 2 days a month (or 10% of school) can impact your students’ chances of graduating on time?
Absences can be a sign of bigger issues such as disengagement, academic struggles, or even bullying. That’s why attendance is so important. We notice, we care, and we’re here to help anyway we can.
Of course, we know life happens. If your child will be out, please make sure to excuse their absence if applicable. For students with ongoing attendance concerns, working together with your student’s team can be vital in helping them stay on track towards graduation. Good communication between home and school can make a huge difference and helps set students up for a successful high school experience.

We are excited to invite you to our 3rd Annual SKHS Showcase on Wednesday, September 23rd, from 4:00–7:00 PM at South Kitsap High School!
This is a wonderful opportunity for students and families to explore everything SKHS has to offer. During the evening, you’ll be able to:
- Enjoy live performances and guided tours of campus
- Connect with teachers, coaches, and support staff
- Learn more about our academic programs, electives, and support services
- Discover the wide variety of sports, clubs, and activities available
- Jostens will be on campus to help the senior class with graduation needs
- Join in on fun activities and enter to win prizes!
This is an open house format—feel free to stop by anytime between 4:00 and 7:00 PM. We look forward to welcoming you and showing you the many opportunities that make SKHS a great place for our students to learn and thrive.

Korilee Hartley – Competed in showmanship, market show, obstacle courses, livestock judging, and Large Animal Round Robin, while also completing a record book, educational poster, and herdsmanship project. Korilee finished the fair with 8 ribbons, a trophy, and a banner, including four blue ribbons, a red ribbon, and a Herdsmanship ribbon. She earned a 3rd Place Pig Obstacle Course trophy, Reserve Champion Novice Showmanship, and went on to compete in Large Animal Round Robin, where she earned Grand Champion Novice.

Tickets are available in person BEFORE & AFTER SCHOOL and DURING LUNCHES only (even if your teacher gives you permission the leave class).

Families need to complete the School Benefits application annually by October 8th to avoid any disruption to services. Unlike most schools in our district, the high school does NOT automatically qualify for reduced meals.
