SKHS Athletics News

Dear Athletes and Parents:

As we begin the 2021-2022 fall season there are many rules you need to be aware of:

Athletes:

  • You will be required to enter your practice from one specific entrance as designated by your coach
  • You will be required to have your attestation done on Skyward before you arrive or do the attestation with your coach before practice.
  • You are responsible for bringing your OWN water every day. We recommend something large with your name on it. Water will be available to refill your water container with guidelines.
  • You must wear a mask to practice/competition, during practice/competition, and leaving practice/competition. We highly recommend that you have two or three extra masks each day as they will get moist.
  • The locker rooms will be off limits to change. You must wear your gear to practice/competition each day. Locker rooms will be open to use the restrooms and wash your hands.

Parents:

  • We ask that you drop off and pick up your athlete from the same area each day.
  • We ask that there will be no car-pooling.
  • We ask that you stay in your car to watch practice at this time and do not go too far from the practice in case of an emergency.
  • We ask that you provide a water bottle for your athlete each day with her/his name on the bottle.
  • We ask that you wash your athlete’s clothes daily to limit the spread of COVID.
  • We ask that your athlete take a shower/bath immediately upon returning home from a sporting event. The locker rooms are closed for showers and changing.
  • We ask that you provide your athlete with at least two masks, if not three each day. Masks need to be cleaned using the CDC guidelines: How to Store and Wash Masks.

Athletic Training Room:

  • Due to COVID restrictions, the procedures of the athletic training room will be different.
  • Athletes reporting to the athletic training room for an injury will have to check in with a licensed athletic trainer, answer attestation questions, have temperature taken, and then be seen.
  • The athletic training room will be limited at this time to only three - four athletes due to space.
  • Basic treatment, such as using foam rollers, rolling massage sticks, stretching boards and use of other rehabilitation equipment will be outside of the athletic training room. Athletes will be expected to use hand sanitizer before and after use plus clean the equipment that they used.
  • Ice will be available but will not be secured to the athlete.
  • Athletes have to be treated before taping will occur. We are asking that parents buy their athletes a figure-8 ankle brace instead of taping.
  • Medical documentation will be needed when an athlete is seen by a medical professional.
