PHYSICAL EDUCATION
Department Grading Policy for Grades 9 - 12
Grading: 100 points per Semester
A. 50 points: PARTICIPATION and being dressed appropriately is a requirement
1. Failure to participate five (8) times or more, without makeup, may result in a failure
2. Non-suit points can not be made up. (-5 points per block scheduled day)
3. Non-suits with a doctor’s note must be made up through P.E. make-ups
4. Make-ups will be determined and will be posted on my website; currently make-ups are scheduled on Thursdays at 2:10 pm; students should meet in the Fitness Center and expect to be physically active for 25-30 minutes
5. Exceptions may be made for doctor’s notes and special cases
6. -2 points for improper suit: (i.e. necklace, gum, and hats)
7. Notes from parents are not accepted for nonparticipation
8. Students who can’t fully participate in all class activities may have their grade adversely affected

II. Appropriate Dress: Must be safe and not distracting
A. Shirt or sweatshirt with sleeves:
1. Acceptable: Any type except the following
a. Any shirt the teacher deems inappropriate which may include but not be limited to:
Shirts which contain alcohol, drug, or tobacco related advertisements
Shirts which contain crude references to sex or anatomical parts
B. Sweat pants: Any type
C. Shorts: Any type except, cutoffs and those baggy or longer than knee length
D. Shoes and Socks
E. Swimming class: Females—one piece suit; Males--tied, hemmed board shorts
F. Modifications may be made
G. If you dress for PE showers are MANDATORY
III. Not allowed: (For reasons of safety)
A. No jewelry (necklaces, rings, watches, earrings, bracelets of any kind, or sun glasses indoors)
B. No gum or hats
C. No cell phones
IV. Non-suited students may be asked to help the teacher (hand out towels, carry gear, etc.)
