Introduction
At the end of November in 2018, SK DECA went on the trip of a lifetime. New York City. From November 28th to December 2nd, we were immersed in the fast-paced city. The five-hour flight was well worth it, to have an experience as monumental as this one. It is no question that this trip opened the eyes of every student to the chaotic business world that is New York City.

Schedule of Events
From day one in the city, SK DECA was already taking on loads of activities.
On Wednesday the 28th, when we flew in, we checked into our hotel, the iconic New Yorker. After that, we decided to hit the streets and explore the big city. From 34th street to 50th street, the sidewalks were filled with DECA students. We made our way to Time Square and Rockefeller Center and got to see the famous Rockefeller ice center tree all lit up in colored lights. And that was just the beginning.
The next day, November 29th, we attended a marketing workshop at Macy’s, where we learned about the department store business. Then, we got a VIP tour of the “World’s most famous arena,” Madison Square Garden. Seeing the locker rooms and suites was an experience we will never forget. We later took a bus tour of the financial district, and then ended at the 9/11 Memorial. That night, we attended the Radio City Music Hall Christmas Spectacular, which was truly… spectacular!

Friday, the 30th, we went to a workshop in the hotel that was hosted by Berkeley College and learned about personal branding. Then we took on the NBC Studio Tour, where we got the behind-the-scene look at the inner-workings of NBC. Later we took the subway downtown to the Empire State Building. Feeling on top of the world, at the 86th floor, we enjoyed the magnificent 360-degree view of the city. To end the day, we took a night bus tour of Chelsea, the meat packing district. There, we explored Chelsea Market, which has several eateries and shops to choose from. Then we made our way over to Brooklyn and saw the famous Brooklyn Bridge. Ending the night with seeing the Grand Central Terminal was a great way to finish of the Friday.

Saturday the 1st, our last full day in the city. We took the subway to downtown again to the ferry station. We were on our way to see the lovely lady liberty. The boat ride over was nice and sunny. After enjoying the famous landmark, we headed over to Ellis Island, were we learned about the history of America and its immigrants. We took the boat back, and then took the subway to Canal street to walk around in the negotiation-filled Chinatown. We later made our way back to 34th street for the Knicks game. Sitting in the 100 level seats, we had the best view of the players. The game started slow, but eventually turned into a crazy game that went into overtime. The Knicks won! The crowd was going wild and the streets were overflowing with blue and orange.

On the 2nd, we did our last-minute souvenir shopping in Chinatown and SoHo. Then the shuttle came to the hotel, and it was time to say goodbye to one of the most iconic places in the world. During the flight, we all reminisced about the memories we made in just five small days.

In the End...
The DECA New York Conference was by far one of the best trips in SK DECA’s history. We learned so much and got to be immersed in the city culture. It is safe to say that this trip will be remembered by all of us.
