Want to go to college, but need some help with expenses? College scholarships and grants can help you attain your education dreams!

A variety of college scholarships and grants are available to South Kitsap School District students throughout the year. Scholarships are posted in the Career Center at SKHS and online. They will be posted in order of due date and students are advised to check at least once a week for new postings. Postings are also advertised on our school's daily news show, WTV.

 Students should check out the  Washington College Grant as well as the CSS profile to help with paying for college.  

**Most scholarships require 1-3 letters of recommendation from teachers or non family member adults in your life that can speak on your behalf. This form LetterofRecommendationRequestFillable.pdf is a useful tool to help you make that request.**


Port Orchard Yacht Club

Seniors who attend South Kitsap HS and are pursuing a post high school education at a college or vocational school are eligible to apply. Selection criteria includes involvement in school and community activities, academic ability, financial need, and demonstration of leadership skills. Three awards are available in the amount of $1500 each. Completed applications are due in the SKHS Career Center by 2:30pm on April 19th, 2024.

Port Orchard Lions Club

One $1500 scholarship is available to a South Kitsap senior who will continue education through a college or professional- technical school located within the state of Washington. Factors considered are community involvement, volunteerism, and financial need. Priority will be given to applicants with a GPA between 2.5- 3.5. Those with a GPA above 3.5 should still apply and are considered qualified. Completed applications are due in the SKHS Career Center by April 26th, 2024.

Hyde/ Nelson Scholarship~ South Kitsap Education Association

Open to all South Kitsap School District seniors. This application is for two separate scholarships. You must check which one you are applying for. Hyde is for those planning to pursue an academic degree. Nelson is for those planning to attend a vocational school. If awarded, the $500 scholarship will be paid directly to your post secondary institution. Return completed applications to the SKHS Career Center by 2:30pm on April 26th, 2024.

Elisabeth Bondy Civics Scholarship~ League of Women Voters of Kitsap

Seniors residing within Kitsap County are eligible to apply. You must be accepted or enrolled at a college, university, or technical school. A short application from, one letter of recommendation, and a 250-500 word response to a prompt are all that is required to apply for this $2000 scholarship. Completed applications must be emailed to bondyscholarship@gmail.com no later than 5:00pm April 26th, 2024

South Kitsap Community Pride~ South Kitsap Properties

For any South Kitsap School District senior who will attend any accredited 4- year, 2- year, or technical school. This scholarship is NOT based on income or GPA. Simply video record your answer to the prompt question, fill out the application, and submit it by email to Doug@SouthKitsapProperties.com by 5pm, April 30th, 2024.

Soroptimist International of Port Orchard

Several awards are available in various amount to any South Kitsap School District female who will pursue a post-secondary education at an accredited 2-year, 4-year, or trade school. Completed applications and attachments should be emailed in a single PDF file to awards@siportorchard.com by April 30th, 2024.

Herbert and Gladys Theisen Memorial~ Port Orchard Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2669

For South Kitsap High School Seniors who have a minimum GPA of 2.75 and will pursue education in nursing or business. Two scholarships are available, one for nursing and one for business, in the amount of $2500. Completed applications are to be received by the scholarship committee by May 1st, 2024.

Paramount Real Estate Group

This scholarship is for SKHS seniors with a minimum GPA of 3.0 or higher. The application is free-form asking you to write your own application letter explaining who you are, your accomplishments, interests, skills, and professional goals. Factors considered in awarding this $1500 scholarship are community involvement and volunteerism. You must also write a short essay about the significance of serving others. Applications are due in the SKHS Career Center by May 1st, 2024.

Danford and Frances Moore Engineering Scholarship

One scholarship in the amount of $2000 will be awarded to a South Kitsap HS senior, or Olympic College student working toward a 4-year degree in Engineering, Water Resources, and/or Biology. A minimum G.P.A of 3.0 is required to apply. The applications must be filled out and submitted through theWashBoard.org. by May 1st, 2024. Search for 'Danford and Frances Moore' once you've logged in to WashBoard.

Maynard Lundberg Scholarship~ Port Orchard Rotary 

South Kitsap High School Seniors who best embody the values, commitment, spirit, and dedication of Maynard Lundberg are encouraged to apply. Emphasis is placed on, and priority is given to students that participate in athletics. Once applications are reviewed, the top three females and top three males will be notified and given a personal interview. From the interview process, the top male and the top female will each receive an award in the amount of $4000. Completed applications must be turned in to the SKHS Career Center no later than 2:30pm on May 1st, 2024.

Leah Pronovost~ SK Western Little League

Any South Kitsap School District Senior that has played baseball at SK Western Little League qualifies to apply for this single $1500 scholarship. Completed applications must be emailed to sponsor@skwesternll.com by May 1st, 2024.

Port Orchard Rotary Foundation~ General Scholarship

For any SKHS senior who will pursue a post-secondary education at a 2-year, 4-year, or technical/ vocational school. Preference is given to students with a minimum G.P.A of 3.0 or higher. Five awards are available in the amount of $2000 each. Completed applications must be received by post mail no later than May 03,2024. Applications can also be emailed by this date to dennistomi@wavecable.com .

Grey Chevrolet Memorial Scholarship~ Port Orchard Rotary

South Kitsap High School Seniors with a minimum GPA of 3.0 and who will attend a 2-year or 4-year college in the fall of 2024 are eligible to apply. Two scholarships in the amount of $4000 each are available. Completed applications must be emailed to millet@skschools.org in PDF format by May 3rd, 2024. Submission can also be made in person to the SKHS Career Center by 2:30pm on this date.

Bob Price/ Westbay Auto Parts Technical Scholarship~ Port Orchard Rotary

For any SKHS senior planning to attend a post-secondary school after graduation. Preference is given (but not limited) to those pursuing a technical/ vocational education and those with construction or CTE courses. One award is available in the amount of $2000. Completed applications are due in the SKHS Career Center by 2:30pm on May, 3rd 2024. Applications can also be emailed to millet@skschools.org by this deadline.

Emergency Services Vocational Scholarship~ Port Orchard Rotary

South Kitsap HS seniors with a minimum GPA of 2.5 or higher are eligible to apply. This scholarship is for those pursuing education and a career in emergency services such as Law Enforcement, Firefighter, Nurse, Medical Technician, Corrections Officer, and Emergency Dispatcher etc. Three awards are available in the amount of $2000 each. Completed applications must be emailed to dennistomi@wavecable.com in a single PDF file containing all necessary documents by May 3rd, 2024. You can post mail the application as well, but make sure it's received by this date.

SKHS PTSA

Three $250 awards are available to South Kitsap School District seniors. These awards are to encourage and emphasize the importance of education and community service. Community involvement is not limited to volunteering, but includes employment as well as activities within the South Kitsap community. Scholarships can be used at any 2-year, 4-year, or vocational and technical school. Applications must be emailed to skhsptsa@gmail.com no later than 11:59 pm on May 3rd, 2024.

Business Education/ Trade Scholarship~ South Kitsap Chamber of Commerce

South Kitsap School District Seniors with a minimum GPA of 2.5 or higher are eligible to apply. Two scholarships in the amount of $500 each are available to those who will pursue a degree in business OR a trade at an accredited college, university, or trade school. Completed applications must be emailed to office@portorchard.com no later than 5:00pm on May 9th, 2024.

Larry Harris Community Service Scholarship~ South Kitsap Chamber of Commerce

One award in the amount of $500 is available to any South Kitsap School District senior with a minimum GPA of 2.5 or higher and has demonstrated a commitment to the SK community through service and volunteering. Completed applications should be emailed to office@portorchard.com by 5:00pm on May 9th, 2024.

South Kitsap Choir Boosters

Seniors who are current members of SKHS Vocal Music Ensembles are eligible to apply. The number of awards and dollar amount is dependent on the number of applicants, but will range from $250-$1000. Completed applications must be emailed to SKChoirBoosters@gmail.com and received by 5pm May 14th, 2024.

Dennis Allred Memorial~ Fraternal Order of Police, Evergreen Lodge #1

Spouses, children, and step-children of current or retired law enforcement officers that serve or have served in Kitsap County are eligible. This includes municipal, county, state, and federal law enforcement. One $500 scholarship is available to help fund education or job training. Applications are due June 1st, 2024.

Military Connected Youth (Various deadlines)


Reserve Officer Training Corp (ROTC):

Let the Army help you pay  for college! ROTC is not basic training and does not include boot camp. The number one focus is academic success. ROTC scholarships can cover either tuition and fees OR room and board. Both choices come with money for living and books and can be applied to more than 1,000 participating schools. Scholarship determination is based on achievements and grades, not financial need.

Naval Reserve Officer Training Corp (NROTC):

NROTC provides similar benefits as Army ROTC with the opportunity to become an officer in the Navy or Marine Corp, or earn a BSN in nursing.  See the link and PDF below for details.

Harvard announces free tuition:
Harvard University announced recently that from now on undergraduate students from low-income families will pay no tuition. If you know of a family earning less than $40,000 a year with an honor student graduating from high school soon, Harvard University wants to pay the tuition. To find out more about Harvard offering free tuition for families making less than $40,000 a year visit Harvard's financial aid website or call the school's financial aid office at (617) 495-1581.
 

College Bound Scholarships for Middle School Students

Financial aid is available for students who are eligible to participate in the free and reduced-price lunch program.
