Recognizing DECA Achievements

South Kitsap DECA has qualified for the International Career Development Conference (ICDC) in Atlanta, Georgia!

Please join us in congratulating Ashlin Sergent and Sofia Garcia Paz for earning Gold Certification for our School-Based Enterprise, Lobo Froyo, and qualifying for ICDC by writing and submitting a comprehensive 25-page certification paper.

One of the most powerful moments from the judge’s feedback came in response to this line from their paper: “At our SBE, we have students serving students. No matter who we’re helping, we have at least one thing in common and that’s that we are SK.” The judge wrote, “I love this statement.”

This quote captures exactly what makes Lobo Froyo special; it’s more than a business. It’s school pride, connection, leadership, and service all wrapped into one student-run enterprise.

We are incredibly proud of Ashlin and Sofia for their professionalism, heart, and dedication. Atlanta, here we come! Congratulations!

[A School-Based Enterprise (SBE) is an entrepreneurial operation within a school that provides goods and services to meet real market needs. SBEs are managed and operated by students and serve as hands-on learning laboratories that integrate National Curriculum Standards in marketing, finance, hospitality, and management. For more than four decades, DECA advisors have used SBEs to provide meaningful, real-world learning experiences that strengthen 21st Century skills and prepare students for college and careers.]
