Want to go to college, but need some help with expenses? College scholarships and grants can help you attain your education dreams!

A variety of college scholarships and grants are available to South Kitsap School District students throughout the year. Scholarships are posted in the Career Center at SKHS and online. There will be approximately 150 scholarships posted throughout the school year. Students are advised to check at least once a week for new postings. Postings are also advertised on our school's daily news show, WTV.


  Students should check out the  Washington College Grant as well as the CSS profile to help with paying for college. 


The Tate Memorial EWISP Scholarship:

The EWISP Scholarship is a non-discriminatory, educational scholarship program for the benefit of traditional students pursuing an associates, bachelor's or master's degree, or certification program in a specific career path. These include persons who are:

  • High school seniors enrolled in a public, private, charter or parochial school or students who are homeschooled who:
    - Plan to pursue a degree at an accredited post-secondary institution
    - Have a demonstrated financial need
    - Have a minimum 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale
    - Have contributed to their community as demonstrated by their involvement in extracurricular activities, employment, civic or volunteer activities.
  • Please provide a copy of college essay, personal statement showing career goal, financial need and community involvement to the SKHS Career Center to be considered for application. 
  • $2,500 reward

NROTC Scholarship:

Available to seniors planning to attend ROTC affiliated colleges or universities.  Scholarship covers tuition, books, monthly stipend and more for the duration of  4 year degree. Download information and apply online at:

Anderson Law Enforcement/Police Scholarship

The Anderson Law Enforcement / Police Scholarship is awarded to a student in Washington state pursuing a career in the field of law enforcement / police.

Washington residents who are either graduating seniors or returning students/adult learners are eligible for this scholarship. Students must be pursuing a career in law enforcement to apply.  $5,000

Washington State Governors' Scholarship for Foster Youth

Available to seniors have been placed by a court order in Foster Care, Guardianship or Dependency Guardianship and who plan to enroll full-time by fall 2022 at an eligible college or university in the state of Washington.  Awards range from $2,000 to $4,000 per year.  Please see further instructions, eligibility requirements and application at:

SME Education Foundation:

Available to students pursuing a 2-year, 4-year or graduate degrees in manufacturing or engineering.  One scholarship application provides students with the opportunity to be considered for all Foundation scholarships. Click "Apply Now" at:

Scholarships for Military Children:

$2,000 available to seniors who’s parents are serving or retired from U.S. Military.  3.0 GPA.  Apply online at:

Phillis Lawson Scholarship - WACTA:

$1,000 for graduating Washington State high school seniors. Available to students who have distinguished themselves in Career and Technical Education during high school.

Washington State School Retirees' Association:

The Washington State School Retirees' Association (WSSRA) invites high school seniors who have a GPA of 3.0 or higher to apply for the Robert J. Handy and WSSR Foundation scholarships.  These awards are given to students who plan to have a career in the “field of education”.

The scholarship application must be filled-out online, printed and mailed to WSSRA, PO Box 5127, Lacey, WA 98509

For an application to be considered it must be in approved form, with directions followed precisely and mailed and postmarked by March 1, 2022.


Microsoft Disability Scholarship:

The Disability Scholarship at Microsoft delivers on the mission of Microsoft’s cross disability employee resource group to empower and enable people with disabilities. This scholarship enables high school students with disabilities to go to college and target a career in the technology industry. This scholarship will be awarded to promising high school seniors who plan to attend a vocational or academic college and have a financial need. The amount of this renewable scholarship to be awarded is $5,000 per year, up to $20,000 total, which is paid through the Seattle Foundation on behalf of the disability Employee Resource Group (ERG) at Microsoft to the recipient’s school’s Financial Aid Office.

Trinity Education Foundation:
Trinity Scholars Program- $10,000 renewable up to four years
Dave Ellingson Environmental Studies- $5,000 renewable up to four years
Seminary- $5,000 renewable up to three years
A variety of scholarships available to students who will attend Christian Universities in the PNW region.  Schools like Gonzaga, Pacific Lutheran University, Saint Martin's, George Fox, Seattle Pacific and many more.

WSEA Vocational Grant: Bremerton Elks Lodge 1181

Open to any graduating Senior High School student and/or General Education student, who is a U.S. Citizen is eligible, receiving a diploma or certificate during the current program year and planning to pursue an eligible Vocational/Technical Course. Print and complete application at:

American Indian Endowed Scholarship:

Available to seniors who have close social and cultural ties to an American Indian tribe or community in Washington State.  Awards range from $500-$2,000.  See all criteria and print application at:

Kitsap Audubon Society Scholarship:

Must be pursuing a 2 or 4-yr degree in Environmental Studies or related sciences.  Apply online at:

PAL William Arthur Philips Scholarship:

Minimum 2.0 GPA, participation in school/community activities, at least 1 ltr of rec, summary of art experience and career goals. Kiwanis Club of Port Orchard:

$500-$5,000 available to Attend any Private 4-year University or College, Private Vocational / Technical / Career College, Public 4-year University or College, Public 2-year Community / Technical College.  10-14 scholarships will be awarded.  Apply at:

BIAW Education Program Scholarship:

$1,000-$5,000 to Washington state residents only  who will be applying to any Washington state accredited community, vocational/ technical college, or university · Students who can demonstrate a need for additional funding to complete their programs in a construction industry-related field of study

Port Orchard Lions Club:

The Port Orchard Lions club is pleased to announce that we will be accepting applications from
2021-2022 graduating seniors for a scholarship. We will be offering one (1) $1500 scholarship
to a deserving student. This scholarship will support a graduating senior in continuing education
through college or a professional-technical school located within the state of Washington.
Factors considered in awarding this scholarship are community involvement, volunteerism and
financial need and specifically how the applicant has or will support the five Lions Clubs
International global causes: diabetes, hunger, vision, childhood cancer and the environment.

Military Connected Youth (Various deadlines)


Harvard announces free tuition:
Harvard University announced recently that from now on undergraduate students from low-income families will pay no tuition. If you know of a family earning less than $40,000 a year with an honor student graduating from high school soon, Harvard University wants to pay the tuition. To find out more about Harvard offering free tuition for families making less than $40,000 a year visit Harvard's financial aid website or call the school's financial aid office at (617) 495-1581.

Financial aid is available for students who are eligible to participate in the free and reduced-price lunch program.
