WELCOME COACH PERKINS:

Coach Perkins

In October of 1973, I was a walk-on for University of Washington's Crew and my life changed forever. I found one of my passions in life.

Since then I have

Taught grades 4, 5, 6 at Manchester Elementary from 1980 - 2005

Taught at Explorer Academy from 2005- present

Three sons have all graduated from SKHS, are successful in their careers and most importantly happy in life

My wife owned Bayside Photography for 40 years before retiring this year

In 2015 I was thrilled to find Clam Island Rowing Club in Silverdale. I currently row with their Masters group three times a week. I have also been an assistant coach for their junior's team and their adult Learn to Row team.

Our coaching staff's enthusiasm, professional knowledge, and drive will help our crew become one of the top junior's rowing teams in the state.

“He had spent much of the night simply staring at his gold medal, contemplating it as it hung on the end of his bunk… As much as he had wanted it, and as much as he understood what it would mean to everyone back home and to the rest of the world, during the night he had come to realize that the medal wasn't the most important thing he would take home…” The Boys in the Boat

WELCOME COACH DELACORTE:

Eric Delacorte

Eric has been working as a teacher in the South Puget Sound area for the past five years, after receiving a master's degree in teaching from the University of Puget Sound. Prior to graduate school Eric rowed for UPS during his senior year of his under graduate studies. In college Eric rowed port side as part of the stroke pair for the top novice 4 and 8 boats, and won a novice championship at the Northwest Collegiate Rowing Conference. Outside of rowing and teaching, Eric is a cyclist and has coached mountain biking, shotput and discuss, and football tackling.
